PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide friction material to improve productivity, and improve durability, thermal stability, and permanent compression distortion. SOLUTION: The friction material has a plurality of slots to locally supply oil. The friction material 10 has a plurality of connected parts 18, and a plurality of the slots 20 to locally supply oil. Each of the connected parts 18 is parted by the slots 20 adjoining it to locally supply oil to the friction material 10. The slots to locally supply oil has side parts to form a reserver to hold fluid in the slots 20 to locally supply oil when the friction material 10 is formed in desired form in a finished product.
