PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which the accuracy of a relative arrangement of recording lines is kept stable over time and consequently such environment protection measures as power saving and resource saving are taken into consideration. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, a plurality of optical scanners which are each provided with a plurality of optical scanning means having a light source means and a movable mirror which scans by reflecting a light beam emitted from the light source means and forms an electrostatic latent image on a image carrier drum by combining individual scanning regions along a main scanning direction in main scanning, and a plurality of image development means which visualize the electrostatic latent image with toner, are arranged in parallel along the moving direction of a transfer body, and a color image is formed by successively transferring and superimposing the toner images visualized with the toner onto the transfer body. The image forming apparatus is provided with a pair of side plates facing to each other which are orthogonal to the main scanning direction and interposing the the scanning regions, and supports the plurality of optical scanners as a unit by bridging the side plates.
