PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a partition apparatus for a water way, which prevents a water level on an upstream side thereof from becoming too high when a large amount of water flows through the water way at the time of heavy raining. SOLUTION: According to the structure of the partition apparatus, rear ends of arms 6 are pivotally mounted on a member extending over the water way, and a sheathing board 8 is supported by front ends of the arms. Then an upper portion of the sheathing board 8 is cut away to form a horizontally oriented overflow port 12, and two vertical guide rails 16 are fixed on both sides of the overflow port on an upstream side of the sheathing board, followed by slidably fitting a steel plate shutter 14 between the guide rails. Further, supports 22 are erected on the water way, and a hand-operated winch 24 is attached to the supports. Then lower ends of wire ropes 26 wound on respective wire drums 24b of the winch are fastened to connection fittings 28 fixed to lower ends of the shutter 14 on both sides of the same.
