PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can efficiently process image formation on a recording medium and improves the manufacture efficiency of the medium. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus 10 including steps of loading a recording medium 200 on a stage member 20, 30 at a loading position, forming an image on the recording medium while passing the stage member 20, 30 through an image forming section 100, and retrieving the recording medium 200 with the image formed thereon from the stage member 20, 30 in the retrieving position, the image forming apparatus is provided with two traveling bodies 40, 60 which move from the loading position to the retrieving position and which are parallel to each other and capable of coming near and separating from each other. The stage members 20, 30 are attached to the traveling bodies 40, 60, respectively, as extended from the traveling bodies 40, 60.
