PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sealing method for a hydraulic buffer capable of increasing gas sealing efficiency and shortening work hours. SOLUTION: This hydraulic buffer is constituted by providing that a rod guide 5 for guiding a piston rod 4 slidably between an opening end part of an inner tube 2 and an inner side of an opening end part of an outer tube 3, placing an oil seal 6 on an upper part of the rod guide 5, and inwardly bending an upper end part of the outer tube to caulk and fix the outer tube 2, the oil seal 6, and the rod guide 5 integrally. Diameter of the upper end part of the outer tube 2 is expanded, and the rod guide 5 with the oil seal 6 placed thereon is arranged at a position opposing to a diameter expanded part 20. Next, gas G is supplied into a reservoir chamber R between the outer tube 3 and the inner tube 2 through a clearance for sealing gas provided between outer peripheral faces of the oil seal 6 and the rod guide 5 and an inner peripheral face of the diameter expanded part 20.
