FIELD: applying of hot coatings onto steel thin-wall tubes of small diameters, possibly applying of hot coating of lead, tin, zinc, aluminum or their alloys, applying coating onto copper or aluminum tubes. ^ SUBSTANCE: method for applying metallic coating al least onto outer surface at least of one elongated article comprises steps of vertically immersing article into melt metal; forming coating due to extracting article in vertical position at rate related with preset thickness of coating along outer perimeter of elongated article by means of relation: V = (3 x g x s2 )/2 v, m/s; where g - free fall acceleration, m/s2 ; s - thickness of coating, m; v - kinematic viscosity of melt metal, m2/s. In immersion zone directly before immersing article or continuously oxide film is removed from surface of melt metal. Apparatus for applying metallic coating at least onto outer surface at least of one elongated article includes bath of melt metal, heater, at least one tubular reservoir mounted vertically in bath and having open upper end protruded over surface of melt metal, pump. Outlet of pump is communicated at least with one reservoir. Inlet of pump is communicated with bath; said reservoirs are made with possibility of their mutual communication. Apparatus also includes unit for immersing/extracting article in vertical position to melt metal/out of melt metal in reservoir. Said unit allows to control speed of extracting article out of melt metal in reservoir. ^ EFFECT: possibility for applying uniform preset --thickness coating onto surface of elongated articles. ^ 7 cl, 1 dwg, 1 tbl |
