摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the amount of residual glass in a glass melting furnace and to shorten the time required for exchanging a body. <P>SOLUTION: The glass melting furnace has a plurality of burners, and in the furnace, the ejecting amount of oxygen from each burner can be controlled according to the temperature distribution in the furnace. It is preferable that the ejection amount of oxygen of each burner used in the central part of the furnace is different from the ejection amount of oxygen of each burner used in the vicinity of a tapping part and the peripheral part of the furnace. Further, the glass melting furnace uses both air burners and oxygen burners, and is characterized in that the central part of the furnace is heated with the air burners, and the part in the vicinity of the tapping part of the furnace and the peripheral part of the furnace are heated with the oxygen burners.
