PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver ultrafine particle colloid in which silver ultrafine particles can be self-organized since they are fine particles and nonetheless monodispersive and have an extremely uniform shape, and to provide its production method. SOLUTION: The silver ultrafine particle colloid containing polygonal silver ultrafine particles having a mean particle diameter of 1 to 10 nm, monodispersive, and also having a uniform shape can be obtained by mixing a silver salt, a reducing agent and an alkylamine, the reducing agent not exhibiting reducing performance in an organic solvent such as ascorbic acid and formic acid.
