PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeding device applicable to a wide range of paper types and enhancing stable high-speed paper feeding performance. SOLUTION: This paper feeding device is equipped with a paper storing part 21B, a feeding-out roller 221, a holding member 224 generating press contact force to paper sheets S by its own weight including the feeding-out roller 221, an arm member 225 lifting the feeding-out roller 221 and releasing the press contact force to the paper sheets S, and an elastic member 234 generating lifting force for the arm member 225. In addition, this paper feeding device is provided with a feeding-out roller lowering driving means 230 releasing the lifting force of the elastic member 234 and bringing the feeding-out roller 221 into press contact with the paper sheets S, and an adjusting means 236 capable of adjusting the lifting force for lifting the feeding-out roller 221.
