An adhesion promoter comprising a pentaerythritol ester of rosin or polymerized rosin incorporated in a functionalized ethylene copolymer, such as ethylene methylacrylate, is described herein. The adhesion promoter is used for thermal bonding the surfaces of two dissimilar substrats, such as aluminum, paper and film. The adhesion promoter can be used at a lower bonding temperature and anhances peel resistance.
