<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant protection device which sufficiently early develops, even if using a gas generator having a comparatively small output, and sufficiently protecting an occupant. <P>SOLUTION: A curtain 12 of the occupant protection device 10 develops to be in a developing state in upper, down, left and right directions in an occupant front region of a rear seat 1. Left and right sides of the curtain 12 are connected to left and right side edges in the cabin ceiling part extending to a rear side of a vehicle from an upper end part of the curtain 12 by each connecting part 24. A pair of left and right expandable bag parts 14L and 14R are provided at a portion facing to the occupant on the rear seat 1. Each of the left side bag part 14L and the right side bag part 14R is arranged to receive left shoulder and right shoulder vicinities of the occupant.
