<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily acquire information relating to broadcast data by using an information portable terminal. <P>SOLUTION: A contents providing system 1 is composed of: a broadcasting station 2 for broadcasting broadcast data including contents data and related data related to the contents of the contents data; a TV set 3; and a portable terminal 4. The TV set 3 outputs contents and synchronizes related information with the contents to output the related in a short-range communication method. When a user acquires information related to the contents that the user currently views, the user bring the portable terminal 3 close to the information providing device 2 down to about 10 cm.
