PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the whole module from becoming nonfunctional even if one channel is defective, in a multi-channel optical module. SOLUTION: Each of the four optical benches 1 is provided with an optical fiber 3 fixed in a V groove and a light receiving element 2. The optical fiber 3 and the light receiving element 2 are optically coupled, constituting a single channel optical assembly. A positioning projection 42 and a recess are formed on an optical assembly mounting member. The four single channel optical assemblies are fitted into the recess of the optical assembly mounting member 4 after their optical characteristics are inspected. Thus, the multi-channel optical module is formed on which a plurality of single channel optical assemblies are mounted.
