<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing method, a developing device, and an image forming apparatus capable of obtaining a high quality image free of roughness. <P>SOLUTION: Static development density α is measured which is a percentage occupied by toner used for development ((developed parts)/(the total area of a developing area)) when a latent image on a photoreceptor 17 is developed while keeping the photoreceptor and a developing sleeve 502 stationary. This measured value is multiplied by a contact area L×(k-1) of the developing sleeve per unit area of the photoreceptor produced by the difference in linear velocity (linear velocity ratio k) between the photoreceptor 17 and the developing sleeve 502, wherein L is a developing nip width, the obtained value is considered to be true development density (α×L×(k-1)), and from this value the range in which good roughness is ensured: 0.1<α×L×(k-1)<1.0 is defined. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
