PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multicast transfer method in a GEM (GTE Encapsulation Method) mode of a Gigabit passive optical network, and to provide its frame processing method. SOLUTION: The methods include a multicast connection setting process, including a process in which an ONT (Optical Network Termination) 43 that is about to register itself into a multicast group of registering it in the group using an IGMP (Internet Group Management Protocol) frame; and a process in which an OLT (Optical Line Termination) 42 gives a multicast port ID to the multicast group and assignes the ID to the ONT 43 registered into the group; and a multicast message transfer process, including a process in which the OLT 42 gives the ID to a message from a router 41 with respect to the multicast group and transfers; and a process, in which the ONT 43 belonging to the multicast group, performs filtering for messages to which the ID is given, using the ID assigned to each message.
