PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate effective management information from a partial management information sequentially recorded even in a random-access recording medium. SOLUTION: In a recording method, unprescribed data selected from time-series serial picture information, voice information and relative information, or media data which are the combination of these information, and management information managing the media data are recorded to a recording medium. In this method, a plurality of the media data, which are partitioned with a prescribed time, are consecutively recorded to a recordable serial recording area, and the partial management information is recorded by connecting it to the media data consecutively recorded. Thus, when the whole management information is reconfigured from the partial management information, the continuity of the media data is kept good, and smooth and high-speed searching and specific reproduction are realized.
