<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further improve the cooling efficiency of a foil type fluid bearing. <P>SOLUTION: The foil type fluid bearing 1 comprises a stationary holding member 2 encircling the outer periphery of a journal portion 4 of a rotor via an annular cavity G and a plurality of centripetal force generating foil (a bump foil 7) arranged in the annular cavity in opposition to almost all outer peripheral face of the journal portion. The stationary holding member has a plurality of through-holes 8 lined at the approximate axial center in the circumferential direction.
