<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely perform a change in biological information to be used for personal identification without affecting other systems. <P>SOLUTION: A financial institute M issues an IC card storing the fingerprint data, iris data, personal identification number, and the like of a customer himself/herself to the customer. The customer inserts the IC card to an ATM 110 set in a store, and places the finger having the registered fingerprint on a fingerprint reading part 113. The ATM 110 collates the fingerprint data stored in the IC card with the fingerprint data read by the fingerprint reading part 113 to perform the personal identification. When the personal identification is successful, the customer can execute processing such as withdraw of cash. When the personal identification by fingerprint fails due to any reason, the user performs the personal identification by making an iris reading part 123 read the iris.
