<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a puppet toy which gives an impression that a puppet understands what a picture is and outputs sounds since the sounds related to the picture are output by touching dot patterns printed on a picture book with a reader part 6 held by the puppet, and never tires a user due to the cuteness of the appearance. <P>SOLUTION: A reader for reading dot codes b comprises the reader part 6 of a pen type and a main body 10 of a device equipped with a control means 9 which reads out audio data stored in a memory means 7 based on the dot codes b read by the reader part 6 and makes a sound producing means 8 output the sounds. The main body 10 of the device is housed in a body 1 of the puppet. The reader part 6 is held by a hand part 3 of the body 1 of the puppet. The dot codes b are printed by superposing the dot codes b on visual information a such as pictures and patterns printed on a sheet body A such as the picture book.
