<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital Theremin or an optical Theremin which can be played only by a hand like the conventional Theremin with respect to the digital Theremin or the like for giving a control signal to a sound source by photographing the hand of a player by a video camera and processing the signal of the camera. <P>SOLUTION: A digital Theremin 10 includes a infrared camera 12, which photographs the hand 14 of a player. A processing circuit 18 receives a video signal from the camera 12 and detects the size (area) of the hand 14 in the video signal and determines a frequency according to the detected size (area) and gives a musical sound signal having the frequency to an audio amplifier 20 and makes musical sound output from a speaker 22. Since the size (area) of the hand is reversely proportional to the square of a distance between the camera 12 and the hand, it is possible to determine the frequency easily on a proportional basis to the size (area) of the hand by setting also the frequency so as to be reversely proportional to the square of the distance. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
