<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expandable medical device which can be used as a delivery device for a specific beneficial active agent such as drugs and an active substance for chemical therapy or others. <P>SOLUTION: This expandable medical device includes a plurality of long struts mutually connected by a plurality of elastic hinges arranged in a cylinder. Width of the struts can be made further larger than that of struts according to advanced technique due to the structure of a tissue supporting implement incorporating the elastic hinges. The struts can be used for delivery of a beneficial agent by supplying a beneficial agent on/in the struts because the size is large in the struts. Examples of mechanisms to deliver a beneficial agent are coating of the struts such as polymer coating including a beneficial agent and laser drilled holes of the struts loaded with a beneficial agent. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
