PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a frequency analyzer which is proper in both time resolution and frequency resolution, and is capable of detecting the existence of frequency components, and in analyzing of frequency values, with respect to a transient signal comprising a single or plurality of frequency components, such as a signal which does not last long, or whose frequency changes in a short time, or the like. SOLUTION: The analyzer is composed of n (predetermined number) analytic blocks 101 to 100+n, to which an input signal is given every moment, and a display 200 which displays level values and frequency values obtained from all the analytic blocks, in a figure whose one axis from among the horizontal or the vertical axes represents the time and the other represents the frequency, causing each level to correspond to contrast or color. Each analytical block comprises one band-pass filter 10, which forms an octave filter bank for restricting the frequency range of the input signal, and a level and frequency calculator 20 which calculates a level value and a single frequency value of the signal whose frequency range has been restricted, and outputs the values from the analysis block.
