PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor capable of stably retaining high-level lubricity and releasability over a prolonged period of time, a method for manufacturing the same, and an image forming apparatus and a process cartridge using the electrophotographic photoreceptor. SOLUTION: In the electrophotographic photoreceptor 1 comprising a conductive substrate 2 and a photosensitive layer 3 containing a prescribed resin formed on the substrate 2, an area from a surface opposite to the substrate 2 up to a prescribed depth is modified by reaction of reactive lubricants with each other and/or reaction of a reactive lubricant with the resin.
