A training umbrella golf grip for reminding a golfer of a proper golf grip, including an annular elongated grip (14) for attachment to an umbrella shaft (12). At least one contoured protrusion (16,18) extends from the annular elongated grip (14). A number of contoured recesses (20) are defined in the annular elongated grip (14). The at least one contoured protrusion (16,18) has surfaces adapted to maintain a users hands in a proper golf grip position. The annular elongated grip (14) is formed from a material selected from the group consisting of rubber, plastic, and leather.
