A polypeptide (I) having 70 % sequence identity to full mouse androgen receptor composite protein (ARCAP) (S1), or a polypeptide encoded by nucleic acid hybridized on stringent conditions to a probe having the open reading frame (ORF) encoding mouse ARCAP (S2), given in specification, where (I) binds with androgen receptor and increases transactivation of an androgen responsive gene, is new. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) isolated nucleic acid (II) encoding (I); (2) isolated nucleic acid (III), comprising single strand sequence having (S2) or sequence complementary to (S2); (3) vector (IV) comprising (II) or (III); (4) cell (V) comprising (II) or (III); (5) transgenic animal (VI) showing increased androgen responsiveness than wild-type animal, comprising transducing gene containing (II) or (III); (6) manufacturing (M1) polypeptide, involves culturing (V) expressing the polypeptide and isolating the polypeptide from the culture; (7) manufacturing (M2) transcription material, involves transducing (III) into a cell and producing the transcription material from the nucleic acid; (8) isolated antibody (VII) that binds (I); and (9) treating (M4) cancer in an animal, involves identifying animal having cancer cell which expresses an androgen receptor composite binding protein gene, treating with the composition that prevents binding of androgen receptor composite binding protein to androgen receptor, or by reducing transactivation of androgen responsive gene.
