<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an item specifying system capable of easily acquiring accurate information by specifying an item selected by a user. <P>SOLUTION: In the item specifying system 100, the user carries out entry of an optional item provided on an application 3 by an electronic pen 10. The electronic pen 10 acquires entry data regarding the item entered by the user, and sends it to an item specifying server 5. The item specifying server 5 extracts coordinate data per stroke from the acquired entry data. In the application 3, an item is printed with a dot pattern corresponding to information of the item. Therefore, the item specifying server 5 acquires a coordinate table 505 coordinated with the item and position coordinates of the dot pattern on the application 3, it specifies the item selected by the user and entered with a check mark or the like by referring to the coordinate table 505 on the basis of the extracted coordinate data per stroke, and it carries out acquisition of the information regarding the item.
