<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure the safety of communication by making proper network settings without forcing a user to perform a troublesome setting operation. <P>SOLUTION: Once the power source is turned on, the connection state of a wireless LAN device is confirmed to check whether the wireless LAN device is mounted for the 1st time (step S2). Here, when the wireless LAN device is mounted for the 1st time, the production number of a printer is obtained (step S3). THen a group ID (IDp1) and a cipher key (KEYp1) are generated through specified arithmetic algorithm on the basis of the production number of the printer (step S4).
