<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape printer capable of enhancing convenience and work efficiency by using the data in a file registered for widthwise print in longitudinal print, and to provide its data processing method and program and a storage medium. <P>SOLUTION: Longitudinal print and widthwise print can be carried out selectively and the data of a character string inputted for widthwise print is edited as widthwise print data and then registered as a file corresponding to a print image for widthwise print.
