PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and surely prevent various troubles caused by exposure of wiring to outside air.

SOLUTION: The electroptic device has a first substrate 10, wiring 16 routed along one side of the first substrate 10 and extended toward another side crossing the one side, and a coating layer 30 coating the wiring 16. Conceivable examples of the electroptic device includes a liquid crystal device and an EL device. The coating layer 30, in the liquid crystal device, can be composed of a sealing material for bonding the first substrate 10 to a second substrate 20 facing it. Contact of the wiring 16 with the outside air is cut off by coating it with the coating layer 30.
