PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an erection method and device for a steel structure shortening a construction period, reducing an erection cost and improving safety in constructing the steel structure such as a station terminal building at an upper part of an existing facility such as a platform of an existing station. SOLUTION: All permanent first section columns a<SB>1</SB>of the steel structure are erected, and blocks of suitable length of an upper structure A<SB>U</SB>are assembled on a permanent end frame 1 constructed on one end side. The assembled blocks are slid to the other end side, and the following blocks are assembled and connected to the slid blocks. This process is sequentially repeated to slide the upper structure A<SB>U</SB>projected to the other end side from the end frame 1, while supporting it by the first section columns a<SB>1</SB>on the other end side. When the upper structure A<SB>U</SB>reaches a prescribed installation position, the upper structure A<SB>U</SB>is lowered to connect second section columns a<SB>2</SB>of the upper structure A<SB>U</SB>to the first section columns a<SB>1</SB>, and first section floor slabs b<SB>1</SB>are lowered into the regular mounting position and joined to the first section columns a<SB>1</SB>.
