PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method, an apparatus and a program for rule retrieval for effectively excluding a redundancy rule whose evaluation is low(or whose evaluation is high) and a recording medium. SOLUTION: In the method for rule retrieval, candidate rules are retrieved in an order opposite to the order of condition items when a tree structure is configured from a plurality of rules having a tree structure relation(hierarchial relation) in which slave rules(low order hierarchical rules) and brother rules(the same hierarchial rules) are arranged according to the order of the condition items, and the evaluation values of the rules are compared in the order of the retrieval, and the rules with high evaluation values are outputted.
