Solar-powered temperature sensor has a temperature sensor (16), a transmitter (22), controller (20), solar cells (14) and battery (18). A temperature reading is transmitted by the transmitter only when the controller determines that a sequence of measured temperature changes amount to a value greater than a threshold value. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a device for remote control of an actuator, especially a heating valve, by a control circuit; and (2) a method for operating an inventive device.
