<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus employing amorphous silicon as a photosensitive body in which a good image free from potential variation can be obtained by suppressing generation of image noise due to an optical memory. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises a photosensitive body of amorphous silicon, and an exposure unit disposed in proximity to the surface of the photosensitive body and exposing image information for the photosensitive body by irradiating the surface of the photosensitive body with light and forming an electrostatic latent image thereon.
