PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing system capable of reducing conventional complicated work to superimpose character information at an appropriate position on an image. SOLUTION: An image input part 101 reads a target image and converts it from an analog image to a digital image. An image analytic part 108a detects and recognizes date character information from read digital image data. The recognized date character information is converted into a predetermined date description pattern and made into an image file together with the digital image data as additional information of the read digital image data. An image recognizing part 1008a recognizes the longitudinal/lateral sides and the upper/lower sides of the digital image data, a date data detecting/extracting part 1008c recognizes character information in the image, and a date region working part 1008e erases the character information in the image. A date superposition region designating part 1008f designates the character information superposition region in the image, and an image file creating part 1008g creates an image file wherein the character information is superposed.
