PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize loss of data recorded till then even in the case of the occurrence of an unexpected power break resulting from a power failure or the like when recording formatting disk control block information related to data recording in a prescribed management area of an information recording medium. SOLUTION: A controller 9 fulfills functions of: a data recording means for recording data in an optical disk 12; a formatting disk control block information recording means for recording formatting disk control block information related to data recorded by the data recording means, in an FDCB of the optical disk 12; and a prescribed condition-time formatting disk control block information recording means for recording formatting disk control block information related to data recorded till then, in the FDCB when a preliminarily set prescribed condition is satisfied during data recording.
