PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of leakage due to sticking of a foreign body to a photoreceptor, and to provide an image forming apparatus having a long life and generating no defect in image quality. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: the photoreceptor serially having an intermediate layer and a photosensitive layer on a conductive support body; an electrifying means for providing an electric charge to the surface of the photoreceptor to be electrified; an image exposure means for irradiating the electrified area of the photoreceptor with light to form an electrostatic latent image; a developing means for forming a colored toner image corresponding to the electrostatic latent image on the surface of the photoreceptor; a first transferring means for primarily transferring the colored toner image formed on the surface of the photoreceptor onto an intermediate transferring body; and a second transferring means for secondary transferring the colored toner image primarily transferred on the intermediate transferring body to a recording member. It is characterized in that the thickness of the intermediate layer is≥15μm, the intermediate layer includes metal oxide fine particles and a binder resin, and the dynamic hardness of the surface of the intermediate transferring body is≥22×109N/m2and≤33×109N/m2.
