PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating material for seeds and forming a coated layer which is rapidly decomposed when contacted with water by water supply such as affusion. SOLUTION: The coating material for seeds practically comprises a powder having≤5.0 wet wt.% equilibrium moisture content at 100% relative humidity and 0.60-0.80 g/cm3bulk density and a water-soluble binder, wherein the particle diameter of the seed is in the order of about 1500μm or less.
