Current source for generating a constant reference current (IBIAS) having an amplifier circuit (5), which outputs a negative feedback voltage (VG), present across a first resistor (6), in inverted amplified fashion as amplification output voltage (VA); a first voltage/current converter (8), which generates a current (I3) in a manner dependent on the amplifier output voltage (VA); a first current mirror circuit (12-1), which mirrors the current (I3) generated by the voltage/current converter (8) to form a mirrored current (I2), which flows through the first resistor (6) in order to generate the negative feedback voltage (VG); and having a second current mirror circuit (12-2), which mirrors the current (I3) generated by the voltage/current converter (8) to form the reference current (IOUT)
