The invention relates to a direct current converter (2) fed by a direct current supply, comprising a device offering protection against short circuits. According to the invention, the short circuit protection device comprises a switch circuit (1) placed in the supply circuit of the converter (2) controlled by the output voltage level of the converter (2) in order to disconnect the current used to supply the converter (3) whenever a short circuit is produced at the output thereof. The invention is used with power supplies for satellite-antenna reception probe selection circuits.
