<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shaft holding device for realizing a rotation transmitting device capable of correctly transmitting rotation. <P>SOLUTION: The rotation transmitting device is composed of a worm 12, and a roller gear engaged with that. The shaft holding device 66 provided between a worm shaft 26 and a device main body 10 is composed to include a shaft holding member 220 as an axial position adjusting device to hold the worm shaft in such a way that it cannot move in an axial direction, an adjusting bolt 222 axially protruded from the shaft holding member, with its protruded end locked to a lock part 270 in the device main body 10, in such a way that protruded quantity is adjustable, and a fixing bolt 226 as a shaft holding member fixing device to axially press the shaft holding member toward the lock part in the device main body, so that it is fixed.
