TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENT OF STATIONARY PART ON ELECTRIC MACHINE BY USING FIBER OPTICS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sensor(10) for measuring temperature of stationary parts on an electric machine by using fiber optics.

SOLUTION: In this sensor, the fiber optics(16) is embedded in a nonmetallic ribbon(14), while a notch(20) is cut into the ribbon in order to form a flection fitting in the shape of the stationary part. Then the ribbon and the fiber optics are attached to the stationary part. Thus a series of laser pulse can be injected from at least one edge of the fiber optics to monitor the temperature of the stationary part through status display of reflection caused by the series of laser pulse.
