PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting machine, capable of obtaining a cutting locus including a free curve with a comparatively simple device. SOLUTION: Simultaneously with traveling of a cutting wire 3 wound round reels 4, 5, an XY table 2 is controlled to press a work placed on the XY table to the cutting wire and cut the work. The reels are a pair of reels 4, 5, and the cutting wire is wound round the paired reels to alternately drive the reels. Or the reel is one reel, and one cutting wire is wound round the reels to drive the reel in the normal or reversed directions. The cutting wire 3 is traveled through the paired reels to cut the work at a linear part of the cutting wire appearing between the pulleys. Further, a pair of guide pulleys 6, 7 are provided between the paired pulleys, thereby cutting the work at the linear part 8 of the cutting wire appearing between the guide pulleys.
