PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stator for a linear motor and the linear motor using the stator, whose deflection is small and flatness is excellent even if a sealing resin and a metal plate on which a permanent magnet is mounted are thin, and even if a moving member of the metal plate on which the permanent magnet is mounted is long in moving direction. SOLUTION: The stator for a linear motor comprises a metal plate, a plurality of permanent magnets spaced and fixed in parallel so that magnetic poles are alternated on the surface of the metal plate, blocks disposed among the permanent magnets, and a resin for sealing the permanent magnets and the block. The block has such property as a longitudinal elastic coefficient in the direction facing the permanent magnet is larger than that of the solidified sealing resin, while a linear expansion coefficient in the direction facing the permanent magnet is larger than that of the solidified sealing resin.
