PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-weight, high-rigidity, low heat capacity and high heat conductivity pipe base material for a heat roll, where the fixation ratio of a toner image to a recording paper is kept constant, the occurrence of image blurring is prevented, and also, an image of high definition and high image quality can be obtained in the case of using the pipe base material for a thermal fixing roll for an image forming apparatus such as a copier, and to provide a heat roll using the pipe base material. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of the pipe base material for the heat roll, the pipe base material for the heat roll is constituted of composite material containing aluminum alloy and silicon carbide. Substantially, the pipe is manufactured by extrusion-molding an ingot which consists of 60 to 90 volume% of the aluminum alloy and 10 to 40 volume% of the silicon carbide particles, and then, drawing the pipe.
