FIELD: metallurgy. ^ SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of holding pair of cooled casting rolls in parallel one relative to other; creating between rolls zone of their approaching; providing possibility of cross motion of one roll relative to other; continuously applying effort to one casting roll for shifting it crosswise towards other roll; setting between rolls initial gap being less than thickness of cast strip in zone of roll approaching; providing rotation of rolls in opposite directions in such a way that their peripheral surfaces move downwards in zone of roll approaching; casting melt metal to zone of approaching rotating rolls and creating bath of melt metal hold on rolls over zone of roll approaching; controlling revolution number of rolls in such a way that to set mode of casting strip whose thickness in front portion exceeds initial gap between rolls; as formed strip pushes one roll from other roll, overcoming applied shifting effort and increasing gap between rolls for adapting it with thickness of initially cast strip; then increasing gap between rolls in comparison with initial gap. ^ EFFECT: flexible control of casting speed providing optimal condition of metal solidification and bath filling rate due to possibility of using rolls having profiles of different thickness values. ^ 7 cl, 12 dwg, 1 ex |
