<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector for a memory card having simple constitution, lowering the height of the connector, and preventing the damage to the contact by the memory card even by operation error. <P>SOLUTION: The memory card 1 is inserted into the connector 2 to electrically connect them. A card insertion part 22 has an insertion port 22A opened in a U shape. A plurality of cantilever contacts 23 are arranged in a row so as to face the card insertion part 22. When the memory card 1 is inserted into the card insertion part 22, the memory card 1 is kept in an inclined state to constitute a pop-up mechanism. Distance d between a contact piece 22B of the memory card 1 in the insertion port 22A and the tip outer surface in the cantilever contact 23 is set shorter than the plate thickness t of the memory card 1.
