摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer liquid crystal material having an interlayer distance of a smectic liquid crystal phase controlled at an arbitrary distance. SOLUTION: The polymer liquid crystal material is obtained by selecting at least two kinds of arbitrary polymers having a weight-average molecular weight different from each other from the group consisting of a plurality kinds of polymers each having a different weight-average molecular weight and mixing the selected polymers in an appropriate mixing ratio so that the smectic liquid crystal phase has the desired interlayer distance.
