METHOD FOR PRODUCING QUINOLINE COMPOUND

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a quinoline compound in a good yield without using formalin. SOLUTION: The method for producing the quinoline compound comprises reacting an aniline compound which may be substituted with a lower alkyl group with a 2-4C aliphatic aldehyde in the presence of a catalyst under vapor-phase conditions. The method is characterized as using silica-alumina containing ions and/or a compound of one or more elements selected from the group consisting of lead, cobalt and thallium as the catalyst.
