PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a braking device for a vehicle, reducing the frequency of high load application to an accumulator while keeping accumulator pressure required for exhibiting enough braking force, and reducing the size, weight and cost of the accumulator. SOLUTION: In this braking device for a vehicle, hydraulic fluid pressure is accumulated in a pressure accumulating device such as an accumulator by a hydraulic pressure generation source such as a pump, and the braking force is increased by the accumulated hydraulic fluid pressure. In the braking device, according to the implementation status or the implementation result of braking force control, the pressure of hydraulic fluid accumulated in the pressure accumulating device is controlled. For example, the threshold of hydraulic fluid pressure in the pressure accumulating device taken as reference in starting or stopping the drive of the hydraulic pressure generation source is varied depending on the magnitude of the target pressure, the implementation status of ABS or VSC control, the magnitude of wheel cylinder pressure or the presence/absence of generation of brake fade.
