PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grater which can be reduced in scale and make grating work easier. SOLUTION: This grater has a grating part with a rotation shaft 2 and a cylindrical rotation body 1 which is rotated around the rotation shaft 2 and equipped with a plurality of projections on the surface for grating an object, two support bodies 3 respectively with a guide 4 to make the rotation shaft 2 movable within a specific range and support the end part of the rotation shaft 2 in the vertical direction against the rotation shaft 2, and a back plate 5 and a bottom part 7 to connect the support bodies 3. A motor to generate power for rotating the rotation shaft 2 and a drive control part to sense that the grating part is in a specific position to drive the motor are set on the support bodies 3. When the rotation shaft 2 is moved to the specific position by the guide 4 and the grater part is in a specified position, the power of the motor is transmitted to the rotation shaft 2 to rotate the rotation body 1.
